Itinerary

Day 01: Dambulla/Sigiriya to Kandy Tour (Approx. 2.5-Hour Drive)
  • 07:30 am: Begin your adventure with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Sigiriya. Prepare to be amazed as you explore the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient marvel built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. Standing 660 feet high, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned as one of the Wonders of the World. Ascend the 1,200 steps to the summit and admire the remarkable lion carving at the entrance, as well as the ingenious water garden irrigation system that exemplifies advanced architectural and engineering skills. The well-designed ramparts and moats surrounding the rock showcase the fortress’s impressive defenses.
  • 11:00 am: Next, visit the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Rising 160 meters above the surrounding landscape, this site houses over 80 caves, with five containing stunning statues and murals that depict the life of Gautama Buddha.
  • 12:00 pm: Depart for the captivating city of Kandy, traveling through Matale.
  • 01:30 pm: On your journey, stop at a spice garden in Matale, where you can explore the diverse range of spices for which Sri Lanka is famous. Learn about their cultivation and preparation methods, and take the opportunity to purchase some of these unique spices.
  • 03:30 pm: Upon arrival in Kandy, the cultural and religious capital of Sri Lanka, begin your exploration of this picturesque city nestled amidst stunning mountain ranges. Visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Discover the unique Bahirawakanda Temple and enjoy the scenic beauty of Kandy Lake, built by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807. Immerse yourself in the vibrant arts, crafts, music, and culture of Kandy, concluding your tour with visits to a gem lapidary and an arts and crafts center.
  • After a full day of exploration, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Kandy for an overnight stay.
